Mission

To develop and deploy a nano-satellite of volume of 2000 cubic cm and weight within 10 kg and to use it for the study of ecology of Chotanagpur plateau over the state of Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal. To use satellite data for studying the following features of Chotanagpur plateau and to share the information with other users in the following ways:

  1. Estimation of agricultural land used in different seasons
  2. Deforestation and aforestation
  3. Agriculture and forest land area damage due to open cast mining
  4. Estimation of restoration of mined area
  5. Estimation of biodiversity in mining area

Vision

To promote interest and research aptitude among students in the field of satellite technology and to gain hands on experience in the development and deployment of satellites. To promote student interest, knowledge and skill in using satellite information for the study of ecology taking Chotanagpur plateau as an example. to encourage collaborative research work among the students. To gain recognition as a premier institute in India in the field of space programs.
