The data acquired by a satellite would be of no use if it was not communicated to the ground segment for analysis and derivation of results. So the communication subsystem is of vital importance to any spacecraft. The data is generally transmitted in the form of radio waves of appropriate frequencies lying in suitable bandwidths. Also, the RF system communicates with the ground station in case of emergencies.
The data that is to be collected by this nano satellite is the images of the target area. RF system transmits the images acquired by the image acquisition system to the ground station for processing. The images acquired will be converted to digital data; this data will be modulated, amplified accordingly and transmitted through the antenna subsystem. The size of the images taken by the camera will decide upon the baud rate to be used. A buffer has to be used to store the data before transmission as the satellite will send the data to the earth only when it is facing the ground station. The data that is transmitted this way would be used the ground station for the derivation of results.
